I have what may be a very stupid question. I currently own a '93 JD 755 4WD with turf tires (Rear size is 33x??). My problem is that I need to put the rear wheels/tires in the wide position. According to the JD 755 operators manual, to set the wheels to the wide position, you simply remove the wheel, turn it around and remount it. But the manual gives no information on which wheel holes to us.When the wheels are in the narrow position, there is a tapered hole in the wheel that the tapered lug bolt mounts into (just like a car wheel, but with a lug bolt instead of a lug nut). Also, there is a raised portion on the wheel at each lug hole that seats against the hub. However, when you turn the wheel around to the wide position, the tapered hole is not so tapered any more (on the back side of the wheel) and it appears the wheel does not mount flush against the hub at each hole (so when you tighten the lug bolts, the wheel will be pulled (bent?) against the hub at each lug hole). There is also another set of holes in the wheel that match up exactly with the hub holes. However, these holes are not tapered, just straight holes. And although it appears the wheel seats better on the hub at these holes, I hesitate to use the tapered lug bolts in these straight holes.So....now I am now really confused. Should I use the tapered lug bolts in the previously used holes to mount the rear wheels in the wide position. Or.... should I go out and buy some standard bolts and lock washers and mount the wheel using the straight holes.I am really disappointed in the JD operators manual in this respect as it doesn't specify which holes to use (not that I have found anyway). Has anyone else run into this situation? Any assistance or advice you could offer would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance & Happy Holidays!
